Course overview

This course is designed to increase awareness of the types of bullying that can occur, what factors can create a bully, the legislation surrounding bullying, and how to help an individual who is being bullied. It has become more important than ever to address the issue of bullying amongst children and young people. Included are the many forms such as physical and verbal and in more recent years as technology has developed, cyber bullying has increasingly become a problem.

Aims and objectives

• Define bullying and the various types
• Discuss the impact of bullying
• Examine the reasons why people bully others
• Highlight the different roles that children and young people can engage in bullying
• Provide support for staff working with young people who are being bullied
• Advice for staff working with children who bully
